The Longhorns, 15-0 and ranked No. 1 in Class 1A by MaxPreps.com, won their three games at the tourney by an average margin of 47 points.
“We had a good weekend of basketball,” Logan coach Kyle Griffiths said. “We won every game fairly easy, but it gave us an opportunity to war win something that we normally would not have a chance to. It also gave everyone a chance to get experience on the court.”
Against the Leopards on Saturday, Hayden Bruhn led the Longhorns with 28 points. Mason Wallin added 10 points.
Coronado fell to 6-7.
The Longhorns face a tougher road this week, with a game Thursday at Class 2A power Texico and Logan’s home district opener Saturday against Fort Sumner.

Logan 85, Melrose 61
The visiting Longhorns broke open a close game with a 27-9 third quarter en route to an 85-61 non-district victory over longtime rival Melrose on Jan. 20.
Logan nursed a 21-18 lead after one period and a 43-41 edge at intermission. The big run in the third quarter gave the Longhorns a 70-50 advantage.
“It was an offensive battle in the first half where no one seemed to have a big advantage,” Griffiths said. “They hit a lot of tough shots in that span that kept them close.
“We made some adjustments defensively in the second half and were able to slow them down. Our guys showed up and competed at a high level the entire night.”
Griffiths said it was the biggest-margin victory over Melrose during his tenure at Logan.
Bruhn scored 30 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead the Longhorns. Wallin added 19 points and 12 rebounds, and Aydin Kotara totaled 17 points.
