The Logan boys basketball team kept rolling and remained undefeated after a dominating 80-32 victory over visiting Des Moines on Saturday.
The Demons (4-4) made it semi-competitive in the first quarter, with them trailing 19-11.
But the Longhorns (9-0) put distance between them and their opponents after that, leading 39-21 at intermission and 64-27 after three quarters.
Hayden Bruhn led the Longhorns with 21 points. Not far behind were teammates Diego Sanchez with 17, Aydin Kotara with 14 and Devin Kotara with 13.
“We shot the ball well from the perimeter last night, especially in the second half … really opened up the rest of the floor for everyone else,” Logan coach Kyle Griffiths said Sunday. “Overall was a well-rounded effort.”
Logan, 9-0 and ranked No. 1 in Class 1A by MaxPreps.com, will play in this week’s EPAC tournament at Texico.
Logan 88, Clayton 58
Logan stormed to a 16-2 lead and set the cruise control during an 88-58 victory over state-ranked Clayton on Friday.
The Longhorns led 23-11 after the first quarter and 46-25 at halftime.
“Guys came out with a lot of energy early in the game, and we were able to take control quickly,” Griffiths said. “Really liked the way we shared the basketball and pushed it in transition. Led to a lot of easy baskets.”
Bruhn scored 24 points to lead the Longhorns. Mason Wallin added 19, and Jace Jackson totaled 12 points.
Clayton, ranked fourth in Class 2A by MaxPreps.com, fell to 7-3.
Floyd 52, San Jon 10
The San Jon boys team fell to 0-9 on the season after a 52-10 loss Friday at Floyd.
The host Broncos grabbed a 17-2 lead after the first quarter and led 32-2 at intermission.
Adam Jimenez led San Jon with six points.
Floyd improved to 2-6, with both its victories against the Coyotes.
