Ute pipeline gets another $20 million

The Ute Water Pipeline Project received a fresh $20 million loan/grant agreement from the state of New Mexico.

The news came during the December meeting Thursday in Clovis of the board of the Eastern New Mexico Water Utility Authority, the agency overseeing construction of the pipeline from Ute Lake to various municipalities in the Clovis area and Cannon Air Force Base.

In other business, the board approved plans, specifications and construction bid packaging for part of the pipeline called Raw Water 1A.

That section will run south from the intake at Ute Lake for 14 1/2 miles.

The board also approved the purchase of a piece of property just south of the pipeline’s intake.

The purchase price was not disclosed.

Board members also heard a report on recent Ute Lake levels.
