Three key components of Tucumcari's potent passing attack each earned first-team all-district honors.
Junior quarterback Nick Goen, junior wide receiver Luis Archuleta and junior running back Daymion Urioste each earned top honors in District 2 of Class 2A.
Goen completed 95 of 179 passes for 1,464 yards, 31 touchdowns and eight interceptions.
Archuleta caught 42 passes for 767 yards - an average of 18.2 yards per catch - for 14 touchdowns.
Urioste caught 41 passes for 846 yards - an average of 20.6 per catch - for 13 touchdowns.
The Rattlers finished 3-7 overall and 2-3 in district play. They just missed qualifying for the Class 2A playoffs.
Honorable mention for the Rattlers were freshman defensive back Jermy Jones, sophomore cornerback Eric Acosta and senior linebacker Shane Jaggers.
Noting most of his all-district picks are underclassmen, Tucumcari coach Doug South remarked: "We're going to have a heck of a team next season."
All-district selections were chosen several weeks ago, but coaches traditionally don't release them until the last team is out of the playoffs.
In that case, it was Santa Rosa, which advanced to the Class 2A finals before being crushed by Texico 50-0. It was Texico's second straight state championship.
Santa Rosa, which won the district championship with a 5-0 mark, had the most all-district players, with district runner-up Legacy Academy having the second-most.
