The Logan FFA parliamentary procedure team recently received a Gold designation at the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis.
The National FFA Parliamentary Procedure career and leadership development event tests students' ability to effectively communicate ideas during a meeting.
The team included Braeden Lightfoot, president, and members Charmaynn Hall, Kyleigh Phillips, Trinity Grant, April Lansdell and Jaida Roberts.
They were coached by Bonnie Lightfoot. The Logan FFA chapter adviser is Clay Lightfoot.
Components included a general knowledge exam of parliamentary law, an 11-minute demonstration of parliamentary procedure, oral questions, written minutes of the demonstration as well as a team problem-solving activity.
Additionally, based upon test scores and knowledge demonstrated in parliamentary procedure, five members of Logan FFA team earned credentials as accredited parliamentarians from The Society for Agricultural Education Parliamentarians.
Only 30% of the students who participated in the event received that level of achievement.
The event, held at the Hyatt Regency and Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis, is one of many educational activities at the National FFA Convention & Expo where FFA members practice the lessons taught in agricultural education classes.
