Flu shot events being offered

The Quay County Public Health Office is offering seasonal influenza shots at its facility and in parts of the county this month.

The health office at 310 S. Second St. in Tucumcari will begin walk-in clinic days for flu shots beginning on Oct. 8.

The office will be open from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Fridays.

Patients also can call for flu-shot appointments at (575) 461-2610.

The health office also is offering these community flu-shot events:

— Oct. 2 at Mesalands Community College from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

— Oct. 7 at the Logan Senior Center from 9 to 11 a.m.

— Oct. 7 at Logan Municipal Schools from 1 to 3 p.m.

— Oct. 11 at Tucumcari Elementary, Middle and High Schools from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

— Oct. 15 at Fort Sumner Public Health Office from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

— Oct. 24 at the House Senior Center from 10:30 a.m. to noon

— Oct. 24 at House Municipal Schools from 1 to 4 p.m.

Flu shots can prevent or lessen the severity of the disease, especially among the elderly.

The public health office also will offer updated COVID-19 vaccines soon.
