On 9-11, beware of terrorism within

I had prepared another article for today's Quay County Sun, but when I realized the issue's date, I decided to write about terrorism despite having written about Patriot Day last year.

This article is biblically based, but it's also heavily editorial, and I had to rush to meet the deadline.

It seems that since shortly after Sept. 11, 2001, we'd made fairly good headway against global terrorism and, for a brief period, could actually be at some ease knowing our country was being well-protected against it.

Now, terrorism has reared its ugly head again in ways previously unthought of by Americans.

While we knew we were still susceptible to external attacks, a more heinous terrorism is being expressed by our own citizens and those we've allowed to come into this country without being properly investigated.

Based on the recent arrest of a non-North American crossing at our northern border, perhaps we should have similar regulations about crossing there as we should for our southern border!

It seems the current acts of religious and cultural racist

terrorism were cultivated by those railing the most against racism and promoting the unpeaceful assemblies (riots/sit-ins) and associated crime that have gone relatively unpunished.

While we're under the New Covenant established by Jesus and revealed in the New Testament rather than the Old Covenant, the Old Testament was recorded so we could learn to avoid the traps of lawlessness and God's displeasure (Colossians 2:8-14; Ephesians 2:14-18; 1 Corinthians 10:1-11).

When God took the Israelites to the promised land, he gave them specific commands to have the equal justice for everyone, whether domestic or foreign (Leviticus 24:17-22; Exodus 23:1-9).

In my opinion, those encouraging and funding such acts are equally accountable for the crimes and should be equally and appropriately prosecuted (Romans 1:28-32; Proverbs 1:10-19; 6:16-20).

Under our founding American documents, the Declaration of Independence, Constitution, Bill of Rights and other amendments, one can easily recognize that America was based on theistic principles, and we are NOT to stand for verifiable crimes against humanity or our nation.

So, why are we allowing that in our own country?!

Sometimes, as for today's article, I must scramble to meet the newspaper's deadline, although that requires minimal preparation compared to protecting our country from the vilest of terroristic acts: those carried out by our own citizens.

America must scramble her defenses to protect our country from the evil of terrorism, as well as all crime, to let everyone know it won't be tolerated.

In the upcoming election, as with every election, we should investigate the candidates well enough to know whether they'll stand for our national defense; how they respect laws and local law enforcement indicate that.

While I'm at ease regarding article-writing because I have one ready for the next issue of the Quay County Sun, America could be more at ease if our leaders would protect our borders and uphold our laws already in place, and that before making any new ones!
