• Saturday — Annual Parade of Lights. The parade will begin at 6 p.m. and go west on Route 66 from Lake Street to the Tucumcari Convention Center, with setup on Lake Street starting at 5:15 p.m. Email [email protected] for a parade registration form. Afterward, the Odeon Theatre will hold a free screening of the 1971 movie “Two-Lane Blacktop,” which contains scenes in Tucumcari, at 7:15 p.m.

• Saturday — 11th annual Christmas Expo. The Tucumcari Convention Center will host this arts and crafts event from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and from 5:30 to 8 p.m. after the Parade of Lights. Santa Claus will make an appearance from 1 to 3 p.m. The expo also will host a canned food drive.

• Dec. 9 — Very Merry Tucumcari Christmas Dash. This free event by the Quay County Health Council and Tucumcari MainStreet will be from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Tucumcari Historic Railroad Plaza. It will feature a quarter-mile walk, with games, hot chocolate, snacks and a free Christmas ornament.

• Dec. 10 — Logan Light Parade. The parade will begin at 6 p.m., with lineup of entrants behind the Old Country Inn motel. The route will be the same as the Fourth of July parade. Cash prizes will be given to the top three entries. A craft fair also will be hosted at the Logan Civic Center.

• Dec. 15 — Tucumcari Community Choir Christmas Cantata. The choir has a new director, Brian Wilson, and a 10-member committee to carry on after longtime director Harold Sloan retired. The free performance will be at 7 p.m. at Center Street Methodist Church, 406 E. Center St., Tucumcari.

• Dec. 16 — Wreaths Across America Day at Tucumcari Memorial Park. The Tucumcari chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution is taking orders for wreaths at veterans graves at $17 each. To order, call Susan at (575) 403-6959 or go to wreathsacrossamerica.org/NM0059P. Wreaths will be placed at 10 a.m. after a ceremony.
