Logan senior Brock Burns recently was named co-Offensive Player of the Year for District 3-1A in eight-man football.
Burns shared the award with Melrose wide receiver Michael Cardonita.
As Logan's quarterback, Burns went 92-for-178 passing for 1,791 yards, 21 touchdowns and just nine interceptions.
He also ran for 292 yards and six touchdowns. He even caught a pass for a TD.
Burns was named a first-team all-district selection as quarterback, defensive end and punter.
Logan finished 7-3 overall and second in its rugged district with a 3-1 mark. The Longhorns qualified for the playoffs and fell to Fort Sumner in the first round.
Several other Logan Longhorns also gained first-team all-district honors:
- Izaiah Kneitz, senior running back, who totaled 580 all-purpose yards and scored eight touchdowns;
- Aydin Kotara, sophomore wide receiver and defensive back who totaled 951 yards receiving and 13 touchdowns and made three interceptions and forced five fumbles;
- Devin Kotara, junior, defensive end who had seven sacks and recovered five fumbles;
- Payson Nials, junior linebacker who led the team with 204 tackles and 13 sacks.
These Logan players were second-team all-district:
- Burns, placekicker
- Nials, offensive lineman
- Kneitz, defensive back
- Devin Kotara, wide receiver
- Stratton Schoonover, freshman tight end or slot
- Jace Jackson, junior defensive lineman
State-champion Melrose dominated the all-district picks, with 13 on the first team.
