• Friday-Saturday — 15th annual Mesalands Community College Grand Canyon Region Intercollegiate Rodeos. The Quay County Rodeo Arena will host two successive rodeos each day. Gates open at 5 p.m., with the rodeos beginning nightly at 6. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for teenagers and free for children age 12 and younger.
• Friday, Saturday and Oct. 20 — “The Hauntings of Alex Street: A History Alive Tour.” The $20 tickets for these walking tours at 6 p.m. at the Tucumcari Railroad Museum include a snack and a ticket for a screening of “Killers of the Flower Moon” at the Odeon Theatre. Alex Street, a former Quay County sheriff and a founding father of Tucumcari, was a key investigator in the Osage murders in Oklahoma. For more, go to tucumcarimainstreet.org/walks.
• Saturday — The Royal Fairway Disc Golf Tournament at Tucumcari Municipal Golf Course. This sanctioned event will have two rounds in one day. Sing up at discgolfscene.com. For more information, call (806) 928-2308.
• Saturday — Christmas in October Sale and Pet Adoption Day. Paws & Claws of Quay County and the Tucumcari Historical Museum are joining forces on this event at 8 a.m. in the parking lot of the Paws & Claw Thrift Store at 402 S. First St., Tucumcari.
• Each Saturday through Nov. 18 — Dog-training class. This six-week course will meet at 10 a.m. each Saturday at the Tucumcari Railroad Museum. The course will teach recall, impulse control, waiting at thresholds, loose-lead walks, stays and how to ignore distractions. The fee is $50, or for free if you dog was adopted from local shelters. All proceeds benefit the museum and Paws & Claws Animal Rescue. Sign up at tucumcaridogtraining.com/obedience-lessons.
• Oct. 21 — Altrusa International of Tucumcari’s Boo Bash Cash Party. This event will include a costume contest, a dance with Bakersfield Twang and a $15,000 grand-prize cash drawing. Tickets are $100, and only 300 will be sold. Call Ellen at (575) 403-6179 or Sylvia at (575) 403-8405 for tickets. Doors open at the Elks Lodge at 6 p.m., with the dance at 8 p.m. Ticket sales will benefit Altrusa’s community projects.
• Oct. 28 — Spooktacular Block Party. Tucumcari MainStreet is planning a downtown Halloween-themed block party with trick-or-treat booths, food trucks and games from 4 to 7 p.m. The event will be on South Second Street from Main to Aber streets.
• Oct. 28 — Pumpkin Crawl and Carving Contest. The Tucumcari Historical Museum is hosting this event, with crash prizes, starting at 7 p.m. Stay tuned for more details.
