- Saturday — Quay County on the Move Fun Run/Walk. This free event by the Quay County Health Council includes a new 3.1-mile course, a 1.5-mile course for seniors and new walkers and a short course for the mobility impaired near Rattler Gymnasium. Organizers will offer a T-shirt to all finishers by late October and snacks. Register at Kvols Park at Route 66 and Sixth Street from 7:15 to 7:45 a.m. The running and walking event begins at 8 a.m. sharp. Participants in the mobility impaired course can enter it between 8:15 and 8:45 a.m. All participants younger than 18 need their registration form signed by a parent or guardian. Children younger than 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Pets on the walk or run must be leashed.
- Saturday — Enchilada dinner and dance. This event at the Nara Visa Community Center will host the dinner at 5:30 p.m. Mountain time and the dance at 7:30 p.m. Mountain time.
- Oct. 13, 14, 20 — “The Hauntings of Alex Street: A History Alive Tour.” The $20 tickets for these walking tours at 6 p.m. at the Tucumcari Railroad Museum include a snack and a ticket for a screening of “Killers of the Flower Moon” at the Odeon Theatre. Alex Street, a former Quay County sheriff and a founding father of Tucumcari, was a key investigator in the Osage murders in Oklahoma. For more, go to tucumcarimainstreet.org/walks.
- Oct. 14 — The Royal Fairway Disc Golf Tournament at Tucumcari Municipal Golf Course. This sanctioned event will have two rounds in one day. Sing up at discgolfscene.com. For more information, call (806) 928-2308.
- Oct. 21 — Altrusa International of Tucumcari’s Boo Bash Cash Party. This event will include a costume contest, a dance with Bakersfield Twang and a $15,000 grand-prize cash drawing. Tickets are $100, and only 300 will be sold. Call Ellen at (575) 403-6179 or Sylvia at (575) 403-8405 for tickets. Doors open at the Elks Lodge at 6 p.m., with the dance at 8 p.m. Ticket sales will benefit Altrusa’s community projects.
- Oct. 28 — Spooktacular Block Party. Tucumcari MainStreet is planning a downtown Halloween-themed block party with trick-or-treat booths, food trucks and games from 4 to 7 p.m. The event will be on South Second Street from Main to Aber streets.
