Calendar - Sept. 6

• Saturday — Fired Up Festival. This year’s Tucumcari MainStreet event will feature a care show by dozens of low-riders. The festival in the Tucumcari Historic Railroad Plaza will run from noon to about 9 p.m. It also will include vendors, the annual Odd Lab fire performance and the event-ending fireworks show.

• Oct. 7 — Quay County on the Move Fun Run/Walk. This free event that includes a 5-kilometer course, a half course and a short course for the mobility impaired will offer a T-shirt to all finishers and snacks. Register at Kvols Park from 7:15 to 7:45 a.m. Event begins at 8 a.m.

• Oct. 7 — Tucumcari Historical Museum field trip to Santa Fe Harvest Festival. The bus will leave the museum at 7 a.m. to go to the Living History Museum at El Rancho de las Golondrinas to provide a glimpse of 18th and 19th-century New Mexico. Learn how a red chile ristra is made or pick a pumpkin from its patch, stomp grapes by foot, make cornhusk crafts and shop homemade goods. Reservations must be made at the Historical Museum by 3 p.m. Sept. 29.

• Oct. 21 — Altrusa International of Tucumcari’s Boo Bash Cash Party. This event will include a costume contest, a dance with Bakersfield Twang and a $15,000 grand-prize cash drawing. Tickets are $100, and only 300 will be sold. Call Ellen at (575) 403-6179 or Sylvia at (575) 403-8405 for tickets. Doors open at the Elks Lodge at 6 p.m., with the dance at 8 p.m. Ticket sales will benefit Altrusa’s community projects.

• Oct. 28 — Spooktacular Block Party. Tucumcari MainStreet is planning a downtown Halloween-themed block party with trick-or-treat booths, food trucks and games from 4 to 7 p.m. The event will be on South Second Street from Main to Aber streets.
