Logan took a big first-half lead and largely dominated during a 44-12 victory over non-district foe Questa during eight-man football action on Saturday afternoon.
The Longhorns (2-0) led 36-6 at intermission.
“The boys played well,” Logan coach Dwayne Roberts said. “I saw some positive things and some things to work on. I’m very proud of the boys.”
Logan quarterback Brock Burns threw for 209 yards and two touchdowns. Aydin Kotara run for 159 yards and a touchdown, and Izaiah Kneitz combined for 110 yards rushing and receiving with a TD.
Also for Logan, Devin Kotara returned a kick 75 yards for a touchdown, and Stratton Schoonover rushed for 91 yards.
For the Longhorns’ defense, Payson Nials totaled 30 tackles and two sacks.
The game’s start was delayed by an hour due to thunderstorms, then was halted with about four minutes left in the game due to lightning in the area.
Questa fell to 0-2, though Roberts noted the Wildcats are much improved.
Logan next travels to Menaul in Albuquerque for a non-district game at 7 p.m. Friday.
Menaul (1-0) was scheduled to play perennial state contender Lordsburg on Friday, but the game was postponed due to lightning.
