Calendar - Aug. 9

Wednesday-Saturday — Quay County Fair. The annual fair featuring all sorts of livestock and home contests will take place at the Quay County fairgrounds in west Tucumcari. The fair on Saturday will offer an itty-bitty rodeo, pet parade, horseshoe pitching contest, scavenger hunt, The annual junior livestock sale will be at 6 p.m. Saturday. Pick up a free fair book from the extension service for a full schedule.

Sunday — “Route 66: The Untold Story of Women on the Mother Road” screening and panel discussion. This free event at 2 p.m. at the Odeon Theatre will discuss the film on how women on Route 66 overcame segregation and gender discrimination.

Aug. 19 — Down at the Depot. Bring your lawn chairs and join Tucumcari MainStreet for live music, food, shopping and family fun at these monthly summer events. This will be a Small Business Support Night, with music by St.Range.

Sept. 9 — Fired Up Festival. This year’s Tucumcari MainStreet event will feature a stop by the Platinum Hop Tour low-riders. The festival in the Tucumcari Historic Railroad Plaza will run from noon to about 9 p.m.

Oct. 7 — Quay County on the Move Fun Run/Walk. This free event will give a T-shirt to all finishers. More information will be given later.
