• Saturday — Cinco de Mayo Celebration. This age 21+ event from 8 p.m. to midnight at the Tucumcari Convention Center will feature the musical acts Cuarenta y Cinco, El Trio CPR and Al Hurricane Jr. Tickets, which are available at the Tucumcari/Quay County Chamber of Commerce and Tucumcari Convention Center, are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. Doors open at 7 p.m.
• Saturday — Annual rabies clinic. Rabies and parvo / distemper combination vaccinations will be held at several towns in Quay County. Tucumcari: 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. at the city warehouse at 302 W. Center St.; Logan: 1 to 3 p.m. at the city warehouse; San Jon: 4 to 5 p.m. at old fire station; Nara Visa: 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Central at the fire station. Either shot will be $15; payment can be by cash or check, but no credit cards.
• Saturday — Ute Lake Big Bass Tournament. The Logan Bass Club is organizing this 18th annual event from safe daylight to 3 p.m. that day. The entry fee is $50, with a $500 top prize for the largest bass caught. • June 16-18 — Tucumcari Rawhide Days. The annual event that salutes the “Rawhide” TV show will feature team roping events, a ranch rodeo, gun show and target-shoot competition, stickhorse races, arts and crafts show, Old Route 66 car and motorcycle show, a parade, fishing derby, a 5K and 10K footrace, chuckwagon displays, cowboy church, golf tournament and a New Mexico Longhorn Breeders Association show. • Aug. 9-12 — Quay County Fair. The annual fair featuring all sorts of livestock and home contests will take place at the Quay County fairgrounds in west Tucumcari. The annual livestock auction will be Saturday night.
• Sept. 9 — Fired Up Festival. This year’s Tucumcari MainStreet event will feature a stop by the Platinum Hop Tour lowriders. The festival in the Tucumcari Historic Railroad Plaza will run from noon to about 9 p.m.
