Serving the High Plains
Logan’s FFA chapter saw five of its teams finish in the top 10 of the recent New Mexico State Career Development Event Competition, including one that won the state title and will advance to nationals in May.
Logan’s Land team of April Landsdell, Justin Johnson, Robert Evans and Javida Roberts earned first place at the Las Cruces competition and will compete in Oklahoma next month for the national title. In the land competition, students evaluated a plot of land for its best use, whether it be for farming or grazing.
Logan’s Pasture and Range team of Kelton Jones, Jesse Leonard, Nials and Haden Judd finished second at the event and also qualified for next month’s nationals. Students in that contest evaluated a plot of land for best practices on grazing cattle and how to improve it.
Payson Nials also was the top individual finisher for Pasture and Range at Logan, placing fourth.
A total of 30 Logan FFA members competed in 10 contests at the Las Cruces event. They were coached by Clay Lightfoot and Relissa Nials.
