Two Tucumcari High School football players earned all-district honors in District 4.
Senior offensive guard and middle linebacker Xzander Garcia and junior offensive guard and linebacker Antonio Gonzales were the top vote-getters from the Rattlers program for first-team honors in the district, which included Ruidoso, Dexter, Hope Christian and New Mexico Military Institute.
Tucumcari’s Jordan Rincones, a sophomore running back and linebacker, and Daymion Urioste, a freshman running back and outside linebacker, each earned second-team honors in District 4.
Also for the Rattlers, freshman running back and defensive end Kameron Apodaca, senior wide receiver Santiago Montano, freshman wide receiver and cornerback Luis Archuleta and freshman quarterback and safety Nicholas Romero each earned honorable mentions.
The young and inexperienced Rattlers finished 0-10 this past season after playing eight state-ranked opponents.
Ruidoso (12-1), which went undefeated in its district and earned a Class 3A title with a 12-0 win over St. Michaels in the state championship game on Saturday, boasted the most all-district selections.
