The K-Bob’s Steakhouse that soon was to reopen in Tucumcari has undergone a name change and a format change.
K-Bob’s announced on social media Friday the new name of the restaurant at 200 E. Estrella Ave. will be Stone Ranch Steakhouse.
Faye Kolman, chief financial officer and vice president of Albuquerque-based 19twelve Holdings that owns the Tucumcari site, stated in an email Friday her company no longer was involved in K-Bob’s.
“We still love them; however, wanted more control over our product and menu,” Kolman wrote. “For example, we plan to use locally sourced products in our made from scratch dishes and are currently working with serval local business owners.”
Kolman, who owns the company with her husband Joe, stated she is a fifth-generation landowner in Quay County and wanted “to invest back into the local economy as much as possible.”
Kolman stated the restaurant would hold a soft opening “within the next few weeks.”
K-Bob’s announced earlier this spring it was returning to its same site in Tucumcari after the corporate office abruptly closed that location in February 2019. K-Bob’s operates restaurants in Clovis, Ruidoso, Raton and Las Vegas in New Mexico, plus three in Texas.
K-Bob’s wasn’t the only Tucumcari restaurant to undergo a name and format change.
Cornerstone’s First Edition changed its name to 66 T-Bird in August and switched from a sandwiches and pizza eatery to one that primarily serves chicken dishes. 66 T-Bird continues to serve ice cream treats.
66 T-Bird still is owned by local restaurateur Todd Duplantis.
