Registration deadline for election is Oct. 11

The deadline for Quay County and New Mexico residents to vote in the November general election is Tuesday, Oct. 11.

Early voting also begins on that day, according to a news release from the Quay County Clerk’s Office.

Voter registration forms are available at the clerk’s office or online at NMvote.org.

Also, anyone who is a new resident to Quay County or needs to update his or her registration from not previously establishing affiliation with a major political party may do so through the same-day registration portal that will be available during early voting in the clerk’s office. This method of registration requires additional identification and verification.

Anyone who is 18 years old before the general election on Nov. 8 is eligible to register and vote.

Early in-person voting begins Oct. 11, with operating hours from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday in the Quay County Courthouse.

The clerk’s office will be open for voting on one Friday only — Nov. 4 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The last day to vote early for the general election will be Saturday, Nov. 5, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Absentee ballot applications can be obtained from the clerk or at NMVote.org.

Anyone with questions should call the Quay County Clerk at (575) 461-0510.
