A Nevada teen died in a one-vehicle accident Thursday on Interstate 40 east of San Jon.
According to a news release from New Mexico State Police, officers responded to a rollover accident on eastbound I-40 at about 12:15 p.m. Thursday.
The initial investigation indicated a 2005 Nissan Xterra sport utility vehicle was going east on I-40 with six people inside, including the driver.
For unknown reasons, the driver lost control, and the vehicle rolled over. Two of the five passengers were thrown from the vehicle.
One of them, 18-year-old Kejuan Green of Sparks, Nevada, was taken to a hospital where he later died of his injuries.
Two other passengers were airlifted from the scene to receive medical treatment.
Seatbelts were not properly used at the time of the crash, state police said.
