The Logan girls track team finished runner-up Friday at the 16-team Mario Martinez Qualifier event at Fort Sumner.
Melrose won an area invitational event for the second straight week, totaling 103 points to Logan’s 72.
The Tucumcari girls finished third with 58 points. San Jon scored two points.
The Lady Longhorns won the 400-meter relay in 53.64 seconds, the 1,600-meter medley relay (4:47.84) and the 3,200-meter relay (12:29.34). Sierra Horne also captured the triple jump with a distance of 31 feet, 3 inches.
For the Lady Rattlers, Haisley Huffman won the long jump with an effort of 15 feet, 9 1/2 inches.
In boys competition, Hagerman dominated the event with 173 1/2 points, more than triple the 56 points compiled by runner-up Melrose. Logan finished fourth with 49 points, and Tucumcari was fifth with 39.
Haden Judd of Logan won the 100-meter dash in 11.94 seconds. The Longhorns’ 1,600-meter medley relay also came in first with a time of 3:55.24.
Khobie Salvador was Tucumcari’s lone champion in boys events, hurling the discus 127 feet, 2 inches. That was more than 11 feet longer than the runner-up.
Salvador also finished third in the shot put.
Other teams at the meet were Springer, Estancia, Fort Sumner, Texico, Clayton, Mescalero Apache, Elida, Grady, Floyd, Clovis Christian and Dora.
