The San Jon girls basketball team vaulted back to the .500 mark after crushing host Floyd 49-7 during a non-district matchup Thursday.
The Coyotes held Floyd scoreless in the first half while taking a 27-0 lead, despite San Jon missing starter Addie Lafferty, attending a livestock show in Phoenix.
“But we had Dakota Fisher step in to that starting spot and she filled in as guard (Addie’s spot) but also as a forward, and she did a great job,” coach Jaree Elliott said.
“We executed our press well, and our goal was to be more patient and move the ball around more on our set offenses, and we did a good job of that. It was nice to watch different mixes of the girls mesh and grow together.”
Chantee Elliott led San Jon (3-3) with 13 points, while Sarah Archuleta added 12. A total of seven San Jon players scored.
Floyd fell to 0-7.

Desta Rose scored 11 points to lead the Lady Longhorns.
Logan fell to 7-2 on the season.
The host Lady Lions improved to 3-6.
