Logan boys fall to 1-4

The Logan boys basketball team fell to 1-4 on the season after a 64-57 loss Saturday at Clayton.

Brock Burns scored 13 points to lead the Longhorns, and Christian Kotara added 12.

“Once again, the boys played hard,” Logan coach Kyle Griffiths said of his young and inexperienced squad. “We had some lapses defensively that hurt us in transition.

“We are definitely getting better in every game. Just have to keep working.”

Clayton was supposed to host a tournament last week but didn’t attract enough teams. Instead, Logan and Clayton played two games against each other in three days.

Clayton improved to 4-2 overall.

Clayton 59, Logan 53

The Yellowjackets pulled away in the final two minutes to notch a 59-53 victory over host Logan on Thursday.

“We missed a lot of layups underneath, and Clayton had a few lucky breaks,” Griffiths said. “It was a battle the whole game.”

Burns scored 15 points to lead the Longhorns, and Kaeden Stoner added 14.

Hart 54, San Jon 3

The Longhorns of Hart, Texas, trounced visiting San Jon 54-3 in a non-district game on Dec. 7.

Young and inexperienced San Jon fell to 0-2 on the season.

Hart improved to 3-5.
