Serving the High Plains
Several San Jon High School boys and girls basketball games have been canceled or postponed due to a COVID-19 outbreak in the community.
San Jon superintendent Janet Gladu announced in a Nov. 16 letter posted online the district would go to remote-only learning through Nov. 29 because coronavirus-positive cases had climbed, and “our cases are spread out across grade levels and staff.”
As a result, San Jon’s season-opening home boys and girls basketball games that included Elida on Nov. 20 and Des Moines on Nov. 22 and a boys game on Nov. 23 at Wildorado were postponed or canceled.
San Jon’s season-opening games, barring more delays, will be at home against Dora on Nov. 30.
Logan Municipal Schools also went to remote-only learning the same week through Nov. 29 due to local COVID-19 outbreaks, but no high-school games were affected.
Logan’s first high-school games are set for the Dora Tournament on Dec. 2-4.
