1971: A large number of Tucumcari citizens as well as the City Commissioners, Chamber of Commerce members, the City Police Department and Ministerial Alliance all urge that Saturday night be designated for Trick or Treating night and that youngsters do not go out on Sunday for Trick or Treats.
“Motorists are urged to drive carefully and to watch for all the spooks that will be out on the streets, some with masks that restrict their vision.”
• The Nosotros Club scheduled a concert featuring Mexican music and folklore. The Mariachi Gala will perform in the Tucumcari junior high school auditorium. Admission fees will go to a scholarship fund.
• The Logan School Music Department was scheduled to present its fourth annual variety show, directed by Bob Burgoon. The show will feature all types of music, comedy and skits at the Logan school gym.
• The Third Street Grocery offered these sale items: fresh lean ground beef, $1.49 for a three-pound package; chuck roast for 57 cents a pound; beef short ribs for 35 cents a pound; fryers for 29 cents a pound; lunch meat for 89 cents for three 6-ounce packages; and longhorn Colby cheese for 59 cents for 10 ounces.
