4-H rodeo results

Seventy 4-Hers and their families traveled to Tucumcari on July 30-31 to participate in the Quay County 4-H Rodeos at the fairgrounds Arena.

Contestants from all over the state earned prizes provided through the donations of Quay County businesses, ranging from saddles for the overall winners, to all-around buckles for the runners-up and buckles for event winners in each age division.

Points earned qualify participants for the state finals in September.

Each competitor was allowed to enter up to four events nightly. The points from their placings were combined to determine the overall winners in each age group.

• Novice all-around champion, winning a saddle, was Cylee Jo Roberts of Dona Ana County. Teagan Trujillo of Rio Arriba County won a runner-up buckle.

• Junior all-around champion, winning a saddle, was Caydence Roberts of Dona Ana County. Wacey Trujillo of Rio Arriba County won a runner-up buckle.

• Senior all-around champion, winning a saddle, was McKinzee Shiver of Torrance County. Sariah Chapman of San Juan County won a runner-up buckle.

Scores from both nights were combined to award event winner buckles. The winners, listed by county, were:
