The Tucumcari High School boys golf team finished seventh of seven teams participating in the Class 1A-3A championships last week at Los Altos Golf Course in Albuquerque.
The Rattlers finished with a team score of 481. Clovis Christian won the boys team title with a score of 328, prevailing over runner-up Socorro by 13 strokes.
Andrew Henderson-Clark was Tucumcari’s top male golfer, with a score of 101 that placed him 21st overall.
Rounding out the Tucumcari scorers were Ayden Otero (36th with a 123 score), Kaden Brown (37th, 126) and Billy Otero (38th, 131).
Jackson Hicks of New Mexico Military Institute was the top boys golfer, finishing with a 75.
Socorro’s JJ Avery finished one stroke back with a 76, and Clovis Christian’s Noah McKay was third with a 78.
Tucumcari did not field a girls team. The lone Lady Rattler at the competition, Amber Owen, finished 34th with a score of 131.
Santa Fe Prep’s Karen Tian won the individual state title with a 74, edging Harley Richardson of Socorro by one stroke. Grace McDaniel of Texico finished third by shooting a 79.
Socorro won the girls team title with a 358 score, edging Texico by three strokes.
