Serving the High Plains
In light of higher COVID-19 vaccination rates in New Mexico, Trigg Memorial Hospital in Tucumcari announced last week it has revised its visitation policies at the hospital and adjoining clinic.
“We will now allow two visitors per patient in most inpatient and outpatient settings,” Presbyterian Healthcare Services, which manages the hospital, stated in a news release June 15. “Visitors are still encouraged to stay with the patient and limit number of times they enter and exit our facility.”
Before entering, visitors must use a thermal temperature scanner at the facility to self-screen. If a screening registers a temperature of more than 99 degrees Fahrenheit, further screening by staff will be completed.
Visitors still are required to wear a medical-grade mask, which will be provided if needed.
The hospital’s complete visitor policy details are at http://www.phs.org.
“Not being able to allow as many visits has been really hard for patients and their families, as well as our staff,” Vickie Gutierrez, Trigg’s chief executive, said in the news release. “With a reduced threat from COVID-19, we are happy to see our patients spending more time with visitors.”
Presbyterian stated it will continue to monitor the risk of COVID-19 and will make adjustments to visitor restrictions as necessary and based on available data.
