Quay County recorded two confirmed cases of coronavirus in the past week, continuing a weeks-long plateau in its caseload.
The total number of coronavirus cases in Quay County since the pandemic began one year ago rose to 427, with eight deaths, through Sunday.
The breakdown of COVID-19 cases by ZIP code was 329 in Tucumcari, 60 in Logan, 10 in House, nine in McAlister, eight in San Jon, four in Nara Visa, three in Grady (part of which extends into Quay County), and three in Bard.
A total of 409 people in Quay County have been deemed to have recovered from the virus through Sunday.
A COVID-19 rapid response was referred to Tractor Supply Co. in Tucumcari on March 23, with one confirmed case of the virus there.
A typical rapid response consists of isolating positive cases, quarantining close contacts for 14 days, ceasing operations to the extent necessary to isolate affected areas, disinfecting these areas, implementing safety procedures and resuming operations. Typically, operations are ceased for fewer than 24 hours before it is safe to reopen.
In New Mexico, a total of 167 new COVID-19 cases were reported Sunday, bringing the overall total to more than 191,000 since the pandemic began.
The state’s seven-day average of cases stayed just below the 200 mark but still above the gating criteria of 168.
No COVID-19 deaths were reported in the state Sunday, keeping that total at 3,925.
A total of 109 people were hospitalized with the disease Sunday. The number continued to shrink from its peak of more than 900 this winter.
The Amarillo metro region on Friday totaled 229 active cases of the disease with a 4.09% hospitalization rate. The caseload has trended downward for weeks.
In the U.S., the total number of coronavirus cases rose to more than 30.2 million, with more than 549,000 deaths, through Sunday.
