Six more confirmed cases of coronavirus were reported Wednesday in Quay County, all in the Tucumcari area.
Four males and two females in the county were reported as the new cases Wednesday. The age breakdown was one age 9 and younger, one age 10 to 20, three age 40 to 49 and one age 50 to 59.
A total of 110 cases have been reported in the county in November alone.
The total number of cases in the county since the pandemic began rose to 217, with three deaths. A total of 77 people have been deemed by the state as recovered from the virus.
The breakdown by ZIP code since the pandemic began is 155 in Tucumcari, 45 in Logan, five in San Jon, five in House, four in McAlister, one in Nara Visa, one in Bard and one in Grady (part of which extends into the county).
According to the state’s COVID-19 rapid-response database, a referral was recorded Tuesday in Tucumcari regarding one confirmed case with an employee at the 10th Judicial Circuit at the Quay County Courthouse. Entities must undergo safety protocols after such reports.
In the state, the state Department of Health on Wednesday reported 1,867 cases., the first time in a week the total was below 2,000. The number of daily cases in New Mexico also had decreased in each of the last six days.
The total number since the pandemic began surpassed 88,000.
A total of 576 cases were reported in Bernalillo County, with another 223 in Dona Ana County.
A total of 23 deaths were reported Tuesday, raising the overall total to 1,451.
A record total of 897 people in the state were hospitalized with the disease on Wednesday.
In the Amarillo metro area, a record of more than 7,500 active cases of COVID-19 were reported Wednesday, with a 39% hospitalization rate.
In the U.S., more than 12.7 million confirmed cases of coronavirus have been reported through Wednesday since the pandemic began, with more than 261,000 deaths.
