Recall issued on Express Kit Caesar Supreme packages

Fresh Express has issued a recall of expired Express Kit Caesar Supreme 10.5-ounce packages because of potential health risk.

The packages come with a use-by date of Nov. 8 and product code S296. The food is being recalled because of a possible contamination with E. coli bacteria.

The salad kit was distributed to many Western and Southwestern states, including New Mexico.

No illnesses are reported, and no consumer complaints have been received by the Fresh Express Consumer Response Center in association with the recall. No other Fresh Express products are subject to recall.

The recall is being conducted because a single randomly selected package of the Fresh Express Kit Caesar Supreme yielded a positive result for E. coli.

E. coli can cause diarrhea, severe stomach cramps and vomiting. Most people recover within a week, but some illnesses can last longer and can be more severe.

Consumers who still may have the expired product at home in their refrigerators should discard and not eat it. For questions or to obtain refunds, consumers may call the Fresh Express Consumer Response Center toll-free at 800-242-5472 from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. local time. Refunds also are available at the site of purchase.
