1970: A Tucumcari gas station, Joe Long Shell, signed an agreement with the New Mexico attorney general that its owner and employees will not violate the terms of the Unfair Practices Act. The station was fined $250 after the state’s Consumer Protection Division found violations of the law after an investigation.
• President Richard Nixon signed a proclamation for the Thanksgiving holiday. “Although some may see division, we give thanks that ours is one Nation, of many diverse people, living in unity under the precept of E.
