The New Mexico Department of Health on Friday reported the fourth death in Quay County from COVID-19.
According to an email Friday from the agency, the latest death was a woman in her 60s who had underlying conditions. It was the second death in Quay County this month; the previous was reported Nov. 18.
The Quay County death occurred the same day a record 35 deaths were reported in the state, raising the total to more than 1,500 since the pandemic began.
One new coronavirus case was reported Friday in the county – a woman age 50 to 59 in the Tucumcari ZIP code.
A total of 112 cases have been reported in the county in November alone.
The total number of cases in the county since the pandemic began rose to 219. A total of 77 people have been deemed by the state as recovered from the virus.
The latest breakdown by ZIP code since the pandemic began is 157 in Tucumcari, 45 in Logan, five in San Jon, five in House, four in McAlister, one in Nara Visa, one in Bard and one in Grady (part of which extends into the county).
In the state, the DOH on Friday reported 2,076 cases. The total number in New Mexico since the pandemic began surpassed 91,000.
A total of 746 cases were reported in Bernalillo County.
A total of 874 people in the state were hospitalized with the disease Friday, the second straight day of decreases from a record high.
In the U.S., more than 13 million confirmed cases of coronavirus have been reported through Friday since the pandemic began, with more than 264,000 deaths.
