Nine confirmed cases of coronavirus, a record, were reported Friday in Quay County.
The county’s total broke the previous mark of eight, set Nov. 11 and Thursday.
A total of 71 cases have been reported in the county in November alone.
Three deaths have occurred in Quay County since the pandemic began, including one reported Wednesday.
The latest cases in the county were seven in the Tucumcari ZIP code, one in the Logan ZIP code and one in the McAlester ZIP code, according to the state Department of Health website. The age breakdown was one under age 10, one age 10 to 19, two age 20 to 29, one age 30 to 39, one age 40 to 49, two age 50 to 59 and one age 70 to 79.
The total number of cases in the county since the pandemic began rose to 178. A total of 76 people have been deemed as recovered from the virus.
The breakdown by ZIP code is 124 in Tucumcari, 40 in Logan, five in San Jon, four in House, four in McAlister and one in Grady (part of which extends into the county).
According to the state’s COVID-19 rapid-response database, a referral was sent Thursday regarding one confirmed case with an employee at Helping Hands Hospice in Tucumcari. Entities must undertake health protocols when they land on the list.
In the state, the DOH on Friday reported 2,993 cases. The total number since the pandemic began surpassed 77,000.
A total of 1,005 cases were reported Friday in Bernalillo County, with 281 in Dona Ana County.
Hospitalizations from COVID-19 stood at a record level of 808 on Friday.
A total of 23 deaths were reported in New Mexico, bringing the total to 1,325.
In Amarillo, the city’s public health department on Friday reported more than 6,500 active cases of the virus, with a 35% hospitalization rate.
In the U.S., more than 11.8 million confirmed cases of coronavirus have been reported through Friday since the pandemic began, with more than 253,000 deaths.
