The New Mexico Department of Health on Saturday reported five more cases of COVID-19 in Quay County, all in the Tucumcari ZIP code.
According to the DOH's website, the latest cases were three men and two women. The age breakdowns were two age 30 to 39, one age 40 to 49 and two age 60 to 69.
The total number of cases in the county grew to 124, with two deaths, since the pandemic began. Quay County has recorded 17 cases in November alone.
The breakdown in the county by ZIP code since the pandemic began is 78 in Tucumcari, 36 in Logan, five in San Jon, three in McAlister, one in House and one in Grady.
On Thursday, the state's COVID-19 rapid-response database reported a referral for one confirmed case at the Quay County Detention Center in Tucumcari. Such entities are required to follow a protocol when a case is reported.
On Saturday, a total of 1,287 cases of coronavirus were reported in New Mexico, tying a daily record set Friday. Bernalillo County had 325 cases on Saturday, and Dona Ana County recorded 206.
New Mexico's seven-day rolling average of cases is higher than 1,000, well past the gating criteria of 168.
New Mexico's overall case total since the pandemic started passed the 53,000 mark.
A record total of 16 deaths were reported in the state Saturday, bringing that total to 1,104.
A total of 440 people in New Mexico are hospitalized with the virus. As of Saturday, 77% of general beds at New Mexico hospitals are occupied, and 80% of intensive-care beds of the state's hospitals are occupied. This includes patients hospitalized for COVID-19 and other illnesses.
On Friday, the public health department for the Amarillo region reported more than 5,400 active cases, with a hospitalization rate of 30.8%.
In the U.S., 9.8 million confirmed cases of the disease have been reported through Saturday, with more than 236,000 deaths.
