New Mexico saw the average number of confirmed coronavirus cases drop sharply in the past week, averaging below the 200 mark.
On Monday, the total number of cases was 132, bringing the total to 22,444 since the pandemic began. Five deaths were reported, raising that total to 690.
The slowdown also was evident in Quay County. After 25 cases in 21 days in the county, it has seen just three cases in 16 days.
The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Quay County stood at 34 as of Monday, with one death of a resident in April who contracted the disease in Florida.
A total of six have recovered from the virus, and more than 1,334 people in the county have been tested.
A total of 28 cases had been reported in the Tucumcari ZIP code, with three each in the ZIP codes of Logan and in San Jon.
Hospitalizations in the state continued to stay low, to 127 on Monday. A total of 9,428 people have been deemed as recovered from the disease.
To the west, Bernalillo County had the most cases in New Mexico, with more than 5,100. To the east, Amarillo had more than 830 active cases of the virus through Monday.
In the U.S., more than 5 million cases of coronavirus have been confirmed, with more than 163,000 deaths as of Monday afternoon.
