Three more cases of COVID-19 were reported Thursday in Quay County, including the first in the San Jon ZIP code.
It was the fourth consecutive day in which coronavirus was reported in the county. After weeks of no reported activity with the virus, Quay County has recorded five such cases in 14 days.
The total number of cases in the county rose to 12, with one death. Eight of those cases are active.
It was the first time since the pandemic started that coronavirus was reported in the San Jon ZIP code. Two other cases from Logan were reported this week, but both were contracted out of state.
The New Mexico Department of Health reported the latest Quay County cases are two individuals age 20 to 29 and a third age 70 to 79. The agency's website indicated it was two men and one woman, though it didn't show which age groups.
More than 660 people in Quay County have been tested for the virus.
A total of 238 people in New Mexico were reported with COVID-19 on Thursday, the eighth consecutive day it had surpassed the 200 mark.
More than 14,200 cases of COVID-19 in New Mexico have been reported since the pandemic began.
Six deaths were reported in the state Thursday, bringing the total to 533.
A total of 154 people are hospitalized with COVID-19.
A total of 6,118 have been deemed as recovered from the disease.
Through Thursday evening, more than 3.1 million people in the United States have been confirmed with the virus, with more than 133,000 deaths.
