Logan girls wrap first in regular-season district play

The Logan girls basketball team wrapped up first place in regular-season district play with a 43-36 victory Saturday at state-ranked Fort Sumner.

The Lady Longhorns (21-3), ranked No. 1 in Class 1A, improved to 7-0 in District 6 with just one game regular-season district game remaining — Thursday at Grady/San Jon.

All the other teams in Logan’s district, including No. 2-ranked Melrose (18-4), have suffered at least two losses in district play.

Karli Webb scored 17 points to lead Logan, while Jordan Hines added 11.

Logan coach Glynna Strand said her team “hit the three well tonight,” with six shots converted from behind the 3-point stripe.

Fort Sumner, ranked third in Class 1A by MaxPreps.com, fell to 18-7, 4-3.

Clovis Christian 51, Grady/San Jon 42

Clovis Christian outscored Grady/San Jon 16-4 in the fourth quarter Thursday during a 51-42 district loss for the Lady Bronchos, who played at San Jon.

Bailey Montoya led Grady/San Jon with 20 points. Teryn Foote added 11.

“We put together three good quarters, just didn’t finish the win,” Grady/San Jon coach Alicia Rush said. “Bailey Montoya played very well. We are improving in many areas.”

Sofi Gabarino scored seven of her team-high 16 points in the critical fourth quarter for Clovis Christian.

The Lady Bronchos fell to 6-14 overall and 0-6 in Class 1A’s District 6. Clovis Christian improved to 14-10, 2-5.
