Logan girls defeat Clovis Christian

The Logan girls basketball team opened its district schedule Saturday with a solid 63-21 victory at Clovis Christian.

Kyndall Ragland led the Lady Longhorns (14-3) with 12 points. Teammates Karlee Cantrell added 11 points and Karli Webb 10.

“We looked good,” Logan coach Glynna Strand said. “Intensity was high, and everyone flowed well together.”

Clovis Christian fell to 10-7.

Logan, ranked No. 1 in Class 1A by MaxPreps.com, hosts a crucial district clash Thursday against No. 2 Melrose (12-2). Logan defeated Melrose in double overtime in the EPAC Tournament title game earlier this month.

Logan 53, Dora 35

Despite two players being sidelined with injuries, Logan persevered during a 53-35 victory Thursday at Dora.

Webb scored 19 points to lead the Lady Longhorns, and Ragland added 10.

Strand said senior guard Jordan Hines was sidelined with a knee strain and sophomore guard Kyra Conway was out with a concussion.

Dora fell to 2-8.

Dora 55, Grady/San Jon 48

Foul trouble led to an offensive slump in the third quarter for Grady/San Jon, dooming it during a 55-48 loss Jan. 14 to visiting Dora.

Coach Alicia Rush said the Lady Bronchos’ leading scorer, Teryn Foote, got into foul trouble during the critical period. Dora outscored Grady/San Jon 11-3 in the quarter, giving the Coyotes a 41-30 lead.

“We shot better, had better ball movement and were more balanced in our scoring,” Rush said. “The girls fought hard and made a comeback but just didn’t finish with a win.”

Rush praised Bailey Montoya and Kassi Glover for their rebounding and offense.

“Krissy Grau made a difference with just good, old-fashioned effort to create turnovers and to be a spark,” Rush added.

Dora improved to 2-7.
