Foul trouble and an injury hampered the Grady/San Jon girls basketball team during a 44-29 loss Saturday to Clovis Christian in their final consolation game of the Plateau EPAC Tournament at Greyhound Arena.

Teryn Foote scored seven points to lead the Lady Bronchos, and Krissy Grau scored six before leaving the game to get stitches above her left eye after colliding with another player's head.

Grady/San Jon coach Alicia Rush said her team was within a few points of Clovis Christian before Grau's injury and Hannah Loudermill fouling out.

Rush said those two events "took the wind out of our sails" and never recovered.

Foote scored 26 points to lead Grady/San Jon.

Rush said her team "got in foul trouble early, but (the) girls did a good job coming out after halftime and getting the win. Everyone got playing time and continue to improve in areas. Of course, we still have a lot to learn, but EPAC is a fun tournament to learn in."

Elida fell to 1-12.

Fort Sumner 54, Grady/San Jon 21

A depleted Grady/San Jon squad found itself overwhelmed by state-ranked Fort Sumner 54-21 Wednesday in the first round of the Plateau EPAC Tournament at Melrose.

Foote and December Garza each led the Lady Bronchos with six points.

"Fort Sumner is solid," Grady coach Alicia Rush said. "They have been building for a few years. Their girls have played a lot of basketball, and it shows. We played decent defense but struggled to score. We are battling some sickness and injuries, so we are focusing on taking it one game at a time."
