• Saturday — Viva Las Tucumcari. The Tucumcari/Quay County Chamber of Commerce banquet from 6 to 9 p.m. offers plenty of fun and plenty to win between games, a prize raffle and a silent auction. The event also will introduce the first-ever Taste of Tucumcari. Check back for more information as the event approaches. Tickets will be $35 per person and $250 for a table of eight. • Monday — Quay County Democratic Party meeting. The organization meets the third Monday of each month at noon at the Pow Wow Restaurant meeting room. Meetings are open to the public, and it encourages anyone who is interested to join. Pow Wow Restaurant, 801 W. Route 66, Tucumcari.
• Tuesday — Republican Party of Quay County meeting. Meetings fall on the third Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the Quality Inn in Tucumcari. 3716 E. Tucumcari Blvd., Tucumcari.
• March 8-14 — 22nd Iron Pour. Mesalands Community College will host its 22nd annual Iron Pour workshop. Meet sculpture artists and make your own artistic creation from molten metal. The actual iron pour will take place Friday, March 13. For more information, call (575) 461-4413, Ext. 138. Building D, 911 S. 10th St., Tucumcari.
• April 24-26 — 20th annual Chuck Wagon Cook Off. Chuck wagons will cook a meal in Dutch Ovens over hot wood coals. Meal consists of Chicken Fried Steak, Potatoes, Beans, Bread and Fresh Apple Cobbler. Meal tickets are $15. Ute Lake State Park, Logan.
• May 1-2 — Tucumcari Rawhide Days. See a Texas Longhorn cattle drive and parade on Old Route 66, followed by gunfighters, vendors, petting zoo, trick roping, chuckwagons and more. Don’t miss out on the ranch rodeo, jamboree, cowboy poets and a country music concert to wrap it all up. More information coming soon at tucumcarirawhidedays.com.
• June 5-6 — New Mexico Music Showcase. More information, including lineups, for this annual event will be announced later at facebook.com/newmexicomusicshowcase. Tucumcari Convention Center.
• June 25-28 — Rockin’ Route 66. This festival will be packed with live entertainment, a classic car and hot rod show, a vintage and hand-built motorcycle show, a pin-up contest and fashion show, a cruise-In down Route 66, a Taste of New Mexico, carnie sideshow performances, Kustom Kulture artists and builders, celebrity guests, a Black Collar Markette and more!
