TV show crew asking for leads in Quay

The crew from the History Channel's "American Pickers" is asking for leads in Quay County for its reality-television show when it comes to New Mexico in February.

Carmen Runyan, executive director for the Tucumcari/Quay County Chamber of Commerce, said producers from the show contacted her by phone last week, asking about rare and valuable antique collections that hosts Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz can examine.

"I know there are a lot of people here who have antique collections," she said.

Runyan put the word out last week on the chamber's Film Tucumcari page on Facebook, asking residents to contact "American Pickers" about their antique collections.

Those with interesting collections and/or stories about them should leave a voicemail to "American Pickers" at (855) OLD-RUST, email [email protected] or through Facebook at @gotapick.

The show's producers will need the collector's name, town, state, the collection's location and a description of the items.

"American Pickers," which has been on the air since 2010, follows Wolfe and Fritz, who travel around the United States to buy or "pick" various antique items for resale, for clients or for their personal collections.

"American Pickers" has remained one of the History Channel's highest-rated programs.
