Serving the High Plains
San Jon High School recently was awarded a $2,637 grant from the NRA Foundation grant to purchase equipment to begin a National Archery in the Schools program.
San Jon students hope to compete at the state tournament in the spring.
The NRA Foundation provides financial support to eligible projects, programs and organizations through its grant program and has awarded more than $398 million in grants since 1990.
Each year, volunteer committees from across the country raise charitable dollars and donors make gifts that are in turn awarded as grants in support of educational and public service programs relating to shooting sports.
The focus of the grants is to promote, advance and encourage firearms, shooting sports and hunting safety; educate people about firearms, firearms history, shooting sports, hunting safety and marksmanship; and conduct research to further firearms safety and marksmanship.
