Serving the High Plains
Crews began Monday the reconstruction of the right line of Interstate 40’s westbound off-ramp at Tucumcari’s Mountain Road in a project that will last through mid- to late November.
Crews are reconstructing the right lane off the off-ramp at U.S. 54, also known as Mountain Road. During the work, traffic will be shifted to the left side of the off-ramp. The work is part of an overall project to reconstruct about one mile of Mountain Road from I-40 to Tucumcari Boulevard. The project will last through at least winter 2020.
Motorists should expect delays and give themselves extra time to reach their destinations. Businesses along Mountain Road will continue to have access during the roadwork.
After crews complete work on the right lane of the I-40 westbound off-ramp, they will reconstruct the left lane of the off-ramp and will shift traffic to the right.
Work is also continuing to install a new waterline along U.S. 54 from north of I-40 to Tucumcari Boulevard.
Regular work hours are from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, although crews may work different hours or on weekends as needed.
