• Saturday — Karaoke Night for Coats for Kids. From 7 p.m. to midnight. Donations will be accepted; all proceeds will to the Coats for Kids program by the Knights of Columbus. • Saturday — Free Dinosaur Museum Day. The Mesalands Community College’s Dinosaur Museum and Natural Sciences Laboratory will open its doors free of charge from noon to 5 p.m.. for Museum Day, an annual celebration hosted by Smithsonian magazine. Participating museums and cultural institutions across the country provide free entry to anyone presenting a Museum Day ticket. To download a ticket, visit https://bit.ly/2lAst3O. Quay County on the Move also is hosting a free scavenger hunt from noon to 3 p.m. between the Tucumcari Historical Museum and the dinosaur museum. • Sept. 26-27 — The Gallery Etc. has a new exhibit, just in time for the Fired Up festival. Stop by to look at the children’s summer art projects, local artists’ work and bid on items during the silent auction. 201 S. Second St., Tucumcari.

• Sept. 28 — Wheels on Fire 100. An endurance bicycle event hosted in Tucumcari will go through San Jon, Grady and Ragland. Join in whether you’re competitive or just out for adventure. • Sept. 28 — Fired Up 2019. An all-day festival by Tucumcari MainStreet features live music, artisans, car show, children’s activities, glass blowing, Prince Tocum and Princess Kari, food booths and a fireworks display to close the night. • Oct. 4-5 — First Presbyterian Church rummage sale. The Presbyterian Women are accepting donations for the event. The sale will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day. • Oct. 5 — Quay County Fun Run & Walk. This is a free event for the whole family. Registration will be between 7:15 and 7:45 a.m. Walking or running begins at 8 a.m. sharp. The course goes west on Hines Avenue, up 11th Street and east on Washington Avenue, down Second Street and returns to Kvols Park. If you can’t walk or run, please consider volunteering to keep participants safe by watching a cross street. Altrusa International will host an aid and refreshments station. After participants turn in their wristbands, they will be able to pick up a free T-shirt at the Quay County Extension office at 216 E. Center St. in late October. Kvols Park, 404 W. • Oct. 11-12 — 12th annual Mesalands Community College Grand Canyon Region Intercollegiate Fall Rodeo. The first day of the rodeo begins at 6 p.m. Friday. Slack performances will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday with the championship performances later that day at 6 p.m. Quay County Fairgrounds, Tucumcari.

• Oct. 12 — Fossil Day Festival. The Mesalands Community College’s Dinosaur Museum and Natural Sciences Laboratory will offer free admission from noon to 5 pm. Participate in paleontology demonstrations and dig for dinosaur fossils. Check out local food trucks and museum merchandise (T-shirts, minerals, toys, books and more). • Oct. 12 — Buried Secrets Paranormal. Join KTNM/KQAY at the Tucumcari Historical Museum for night of spooks and spectacle. The Buried Secrets Paranormal team will perform an investigation from 6 to 10 p.m. There have been rumors of a ghost or two haunting the halls. A donation of $20 per person will earn the chance to attend this hands-on investigation with EMF detectors, audio recorders, dowsing rods and more. • Oct. 17 — “Almost Ghosts” screening. See a 7 p.m. screening of “Almost Ghosts,” a documentary from Spain that explores the near-ghost towns of Route 66. The screening will be at the Odeon Theatre, the longest running theatre in the state of New Mexico. More details of this event will be announced soon.123 S. Second St., Tucumcari.

• Oct. 19 — Boo-Bash Cash Party. Get ready for a scary good time at Altrusa International of Tucumcari’s annual event at 6 p.m., with the Halloween dance and costume contest will follow at 8 p.m. Tickets are $100 for the chance to win $15,000. Proceeds of this event will be used to fund a variety of Altrusa community service projects throughout the year. Tucumcari Convention Center.

• Oct. 19 — Cuarenta y Cinco show. Doors open at 7 p.m., and the show runs from 8 p.m. to midnight. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door, if available. Concertgoers must be 21 years old with a valid ID. Tucumcari Columbus Club, 202 E. Main St., Tucumcari.

• Oct. 19-20 — Shootout at Six Shooter Siding. This 54-hole Professional Disc Golf Tournament will be Robert Lumpkin Memorial Disc Golf Course. It includes $300 added cash to the professional purse, and the first 50 amateur players will receive an event-stamped Prodigy disc. Five Mile Park, Tucumcari.

• Oct. 21 — Quay County Democratic Party meeting. The organization meets the third Monday of each month at noon at the Pow Wow Restaurant meeting room. Meetings are open to the public, and it encourages anyone who is interested to join. Pow Wow Restaurant, 801 W. Route 66, Tucumcari.

• Oct. 22 — Republican Party of Quay County meeting. Meetings fall on the third Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the Quality Inn in Tucumcari. 3716 E. Tucumcari Blvd., Tucumcari.

• Oct. 31 — Festival of Fright. Visit the haunted Mesalands Dinosaur Museum. This event will feature trunk or treating, candy, fun and scares for all ages. The children’s haunted house will be from 5 to 7 p.m. and the adult haunted house from 7 to 9 p.m. Admission is $5 per person or $3 with a costume. Trunk or treat is free. Mesalands Dinosaur Museum, 222 E. Laughlin Avenue, Tucumcari.

• Nov. 23 — Christmas Raffle Dinner and Dance. Christmas might come a little early if you win the Christmas raffle by the Tucumcari Columbus Club. Tickets are $50 per person for dinner and dancing; they are available from any Knights of Columbus member. The grand prize is $5,000 in cash, with eight other cash-prize drawings. The event runs from 6 p.m. to midnight. Tucumcari Convention Center.
