Erin Encinias was the top finisher for Tucumcari during a cross-country meet Thursday at Lovington.
No team scores were kept for either the girls or boys teams because they didn’t have enough runners.
Encinias finished 12th with a time of 22 minutes, 50 seconds over the 3.1-mile course.
For the rest of the Lady Rattlers, A’leaya Lucero was 20th in 23:31, Ashley Shipley 29th in 24:52 and Lizet Castillo 34th in 25:54.
For the Tucumcari boys, Manny Hernandez was the top finisher, crossing the finish line 22nd with a time of 18:50.
Rounding out the rest of the Rattlers boys varsity were Ayden Lusk, 40th, 21:29; and Alex Lujan, 46th, 22:09.
For the Tucumcari junior varsity boys, Britt Lusk was 41st at 25:27, Andrew Henderson-Clark 49th at 28:22 and Tyrus Jones 52nd at 31:59.
“The teams are starting to run better,” Tucumcari coach Gary Hittson said. “They are working harder in practice, and that’s all you can ask for.”
Tucumcari’s next meet is at the Moriarty Invitational in Edgewood at 9 a.m. Saturday.
