The Logan FFA Greenhand Parliamentary Procedure Team recently finished second at the state contest and will be a runner-up to compete at the national competition.
Logan competed against Fort Sumner, Silver City, Artesia, Carlsbad, Texico and Clovis. Eastern New Mexico University in Portales hosted the state contest Jan. 26.
Each team must complete opening and closing ceremonies and complete 12 motions and three debates for each member in less than 12 minutes.
Members of the team were Micah Lightfoot, president; Kyndall Ragland, vice president; Joanie Vance, secretary; Nick Black, treasurer; Rylee Nials, reporter; Jodi Vance, sentinel; and Jaylee Judd, adviser.
The Logan FFA chapter also attended the New Mexico Leadership Conference in Albuquerque on Feb. 2-3.
The Logan chapter had a junior high quiz team that placed second during the second heat of the contest. Members were Brookel Smith, Kelton Jones, Mackenzie Lightfoot, Hunter Garnett, Levi Wall and Moses Acosta.
The theme of the conference was “Game Night,” where students learned about leadership, confidence and cooperation within their groups.
