1969: The 1969 New Mexico Seedsmen’s Association Convention gets underway with registration this afternoon at the Holiday Inn in Tucumcari. More than 100 visitors are expected for the three-day convention.
• “Tool bandits” struck again as two more toolboxes were stolen from pickup trucks in Tucumcari. Thieves stole a toolbox and leather pouch full of tools from a pickup parked across a local theater. A resident reported a small black toolbox was stolen from his truck as it was parked at the Crescent Creamery.
• Winners of the St. Anne’s School spelling bee who will compete at the Quay County Spelling Bee are Loretta Romero, sixth-grade winner; Connie Garcia, fifth-grade winner; Elizabeth Garcia, sixth-grade alternate; and Frances Garcia, sixth-grade alternate.
