Karli Webb hit a game-winning shot with eight seconds remaining to lift the Logan girls basketball team to a 34-33 victory Saturday over the host team in the title game of the Clayton Tournament.
Webb led the Lady Longhorns with 17 points, and Harlie Roach scored nine.
Logan improved to 6-1 overall, while Clayton fell to 6-2.
Logan coach Glynna Strand said Karlee Cantrell made two shots near the end the game to keep it close, setting up the clincher by Webb.
“We performed very well overall,” Strand said of her team's performance over the weekend.
Logan 50, Boys Ranch 32
A strong finish by the Lady Longhorns gave them a convincing 50-32 victory Friday over Boys Ranch, Texas, during the semifinals of the Clayton Tournament.
Logan finished the game by outscoring the Roughriders 12-2 in the fourth quarter.
Roach led Logan with 19 points, and Webb added 17.
Boys Ranch fell to 2-6 overall.
Logan 67, Raton 26
The Lady Longhorns overwhelmed the Lady Tigers 67-26 in the first round Thursday of the Clayton Tournament.
Webb led Logan with 24 points, while Roach added 14.
Raton fell to 2-4 overall.
Elida 55, Grady/San Jon/House 22
Elida turned an initially close game against Grady/San Jon/House into a 55-22 blowout Friday in the semifinals of the Elida Invitational.
The Lady Tigers (4-2) outscored the Lady Bronchos 27-8 in the second and third quarters to take control.
Grady/San Jon/House fell to 2-6 overall.
Grady/San Jon/House 40, Dora 37
The Lady Bronchos took a 22-13 lead in the first half and made it stand up during a 40-37 victory over Dora on Thursday at the Elida Invitational.
Morgan Becerra led Grady/San Jon/House with nine points, while Teryn Foote and Timia Northcutt each scored seven.
Dora fell to 3-2 overall.
Des Moines 50, Grady/San Jon/House 22
Host Des Moines turned a somewhat close game with Grady/San Jon/House into a 50-22 blowout Dec. 11 with a 22-0 run in the third quarter.
The Lady Bronchos trailed 19-9 at intermission and found themselves down 41-9 after the third period.
Foote led Grady/San Jon/House with eight points, and Kristin Grau added seven. The Demons improved to 6-1 overall.
