The parliamentary procedure team from the Logan FFA chapter earned a silver rating at the recent 91st National FFA Convention and Expo in Indianapolis.
Logan team members were MacKenzie Lightfoot, Amber Rivera, Mesa Modisette, Kyle Hamilton, Amanda Kanapilly and Robert Stringfellow.
Lightfoot and Rivera also earned a certificate as accredited parliamentarians from the American Institute of Parliamentarians based on their performance in the general knowledge exam.
The Logan FFA team was one of 16 teams to receive a silver rating. Twelve teams earned a gold rating, and 10 received a bronze rating.
The top team was the Lake Butler FFA chapter of Florida. Second was Estrella Mountain FFA of Arizona, third was Paxton-Buckley-Loda FFA of Illinois, and fourth was Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted FFA of Minnesota.
The National FFA Parliamentary Procedure Leadership Development Event tests students’ ability to communicate ideas during a meeting. Components included a general knowledge exam of parliamentary law, an 11-minute demonstration of parliamentary procedure, oral questions, written minutes of the demonstration and team problem-solving ability.
